Spylaw Before Roof Work Neal Neil and Chris Opening Barbeque Spylaw

Spylaw before renovation work began.  Spylaw has been used for many years, by various groups, to enjoy the Simonside hills.   The members of the District are working together  to replace the roof and renovate the whole building.

Seen to the right is Neil our District Explorer Scout Commissioner, who is masterminding the whole restoration effort. A welcome break is being shared with two of the labour force.

On the 12th October 2002 a bar-b-que was held to celebrate the completion of the first stage of the renovation.  Guests included some of the local farmers who have given their support and practical help.

The young lady in the middle is Margaret Cocks.  Most of the leaders also played for Seghill rugby club.

Gone Home - Peter Walker - The District and Scouting have lost one of its greatest assets.  Peter Walker sadly died on the 15th February 2003.  Countless Leaders and youngsters have benefited from Peter's dedication to Scouting, and in particular to leader training.  Peter and Norma have been a great doubles team, a fact recognised since they were both awarded the Silver Wolf. This picture was taken during rehearsals for the 2001 District Gang Show.  As Skipper Peter inspired a new generation of youngsters. (Click on Peter's)
