The
above ages are a guideline for normal starting and finishing ages.
There is flexibility, which takes into account the development of
the individual, and any special circumstances. Any variation to
the starting ages is subject to discussion with the District Team.

Beaver
Scouts
The youngest section in our Movement concentrates on Fun and
Friends. The leaders of each colony seek to provide a range of new
experiences designed develop the Beaver Scouts. The section has a
limited badge scheme, where joining in is the key element. For
details about your nearest colony speak to Sue Jackson.

Cub
Scouts
To
join the Cub Scouts you must be at least 8 years old. Cub Scouts are part
of a Pack and to find out your nearest one you can ask Michael Munroe. Cub
Scouts have an extensive training scheme with stage awards backed up by
range of interest badges.

|
Scouts
For this age
range there is a comprehensive training scheme, which in most instances
builds on the Cub Scout programme. Awards are geared to the age and
needs of the youngsters, and anyone new to Scouting will fit into the
training scheme at an appropriate point.

Explorer
Scouts
This new
section will be introduced in 2002. There are two locations available,
based at the 2nd Cramlington, Ann Welfare and at the District HQ in Blyth. A third unit
is to be established in Seaton Delaval. There is also
a Young Leader Scheme, which has its own objectives. The programmes
for these sections are linked to the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
