Blyth Valley Scout District

Come and join the celebrations at our District Carol Service

St. Nicholas Church, Cramlington - Tuesday 6th December 2016

To all Groups and Guests,

On behalf of the District Team, 2nd Cramlington Scout Group would like to invite you all to this Year’s Candle Light Carol Service, details are as shown above.

We would like the Groups to arrive at 6.30pm. and would request that you arrive no earlier than this in order to allow us time to set up the Church for the service.

As usual parents, brothers and sisters as well as grandparents and other family are warmly welcome, but could you request that they take their seats at the back of the church to allow Groups to occupy the front seats.

There will be an exit collection as in previous years which will go to the Church for whatever charity they wish to support.

Following discussions with the District Commissioners we would also like the young people to bring an item or items of food (see attached list) which will be distributed to one of the homeless charities in the wider area, this will not only help the homeless but will also remind our young people that Christmas is a time for giving and also a time to remember those less fortunate than themselves.

As this year is the Cub Scout’s Centenary we thought it would be appropriate that each pack attending choose one of their Cub Scouts to carry a candle, (which we will provide), down to the Altar at the beginning of the service.

We are asking that the Beaver Scouts each bring a Christingle with them, the remainder of the congregation will be provided with candles as usual and we will be looking into the problems that can be encountered with the drip cards. It has been suggested that the youngsters bring a glove to protect their hands from the hot wax.

Following the Service there will be the usual refreshments in the Church Hall and we will endeavour to finish circa 8.00pm. We hope to see you all there on the 6th, but for those who are unable to attend may I, on behalf of the 2nd Cramlington Scout Group, wish you a peaceful and happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

Yours in Scouting,

Dave McClen (GSL)
