On Saturday 15th September over 40 Scouts and Explorers took part in the annual District Triathlon, held again at QE II Country Park near Ashington. An action packed day of activities took place, with teams competing for the fastest time in 3 different challenges.

In the morning session each team had to Hike and Cycle around a set course circling the lake along with a canoeing lap on the water. Once the teams had set their times for all 3 challenges they then had the opportunity to beat and better them in the afternoon, allowing the young people to use decision making and team building skills to choose their strongest members for specific challenges. The times from the both sessions were then totted up and the results were announced. You can see photographs from the event by clicking here.

Congratulations go to 10th Blyth who won the competition this year, followed by 2nd Seaton Delaval (1st Team) in second, and 4th Cramlington taking third place. A big well done goes to everyone who took part in a day of challenge, fun and adventure.

Also a big bravo to Stu Griffin and the organising team from 2nd Seaton Delaval Scout Group who put on the event for the 2nd year running, the leaders and volunteers who helped make the day happen and also to the team from WATBUS and WATBIKE for proving the bikes and their cycling expertise.

Sounds like a good day out? If your not a Scout and this sounds like something you'd enjoy why not join us and take part in loads of adventures and activity's. Click Here for information on how to get involved.
